Yorkshire Police officers stunned by extent of dangerous overload

While load security and overloads are no laughing matter, lorry drivers do from time-to-time jokingly use the phrase “if it's on, it's gone" to refer to reports of such infractions. As explained on the Facebook Page of West Yorkshire Police – Calderdale Valleys, in the town of Elland on Wednesday evening, two officers saw the van in the image above. At the time, it was said that the officers “thought their eyes were deceiving them”.

Unsurprisingly, the driver was stopped and dealt with for having a dangerous load.

Commenting on the obviously dangerous load, the police said:

“If the load you want to transport is twice as long as your van and maybe even a touch longer than a bus, it’s perhaps a wise idea to find a different way of transporting it. The driver learned this lesson the hard way.”
