Upcoming closures on A7 motorway near Hamburg, Germany

On the weekend after Easter, the tunnel under the Elbe in Hamburg will be closed on Saturday evening. Closures of various sections of the A7 are also being prepared in the coming weeks.

The A7 motorway extension once again requires the complete closure of the tunnel under the Elbe River overnight. The first of these will take place on the weekend after Easter.

According to information from Autobahn GmbH (the route operator), there are difficulties in both lanes at different times:

  • the A7 southbound towards Flensburg will be closed between the junctions Hamburg-Heimfeld and Hamburg-Volkspark from 22:00 on Friday, 5 April to 05:00 on Monday, 8 April,
  • the A7 northbound towards Hannover will be closed between the junctions Hamburg-Volkspark and Hamburg-Heimfeld from 21:00 on Saturday, 6 April to 10:00 on Sunday, 7 April.

Detours (shown in yellow on the map) lead via the A1, A21 and the B205 major roads.

Further A7 closures are planned for the next two weekends. These concern the section between the Owschlag (No. 7) and Rendsburg/Büdelsdorf (No. 8) junctions.

The timetable is as follows:

  • closure of the A7 motorway in the direction of Hamburg from 20:00 on 12 April to 05:00 on 15 April,
  • simultaneous closure of the A7 in the direction of Flensburg from 02:00 to 20:00 on 13 April,
  • diversion of transit traffic in the direction of Hamburg from the Schleswig/Jagel junction (no. 6),
  • closure of the A7 in the direction of Flensburg from 20:00 on 19 April to 05:00 on 22 April,
  • simultaneous closure of the A7 in the direction of Hamburg from 02:00 to 20:00 on 20 April,
  • diversion of transit traffic in the direction of Flensburg/Danish border from the Rendsburg junction (no. 9).
