The incident happened on Monday on Lucas Green Road, West End.
It isn’t know how the accident came about and why the impact was so severe.
The police noted yesterday that the driver was being checked at hospital, but appears to have escaped serious injury.
The road was temporarily shut down to allow the recovery of the lorry to take place.
Writing on Twitter, Surrey Road Police said the driver had had a “very lucky escape”.
