The rest areas, managed by mowicz TRUCK, will be located near the ports of Huelva and Almería.

When the lorry parks open, users of the mowiz TRUCK app will have access to 3,500 lorry parking spaces across Spain.

The Huelva facility will have 333 parking spaces. It is to be constructed in the Punta del Sebo area at the confluence of the Tinto and Odiel rivers, in an area part of the ZAL logistics development zone.

The Almería lorry park shall have 257 spaces and be located on the Pechina Quay of the Port of Almería – the second-largest port for Ro-Ro traffic in southern Spain.

The operator of the lorry parks say the new locations will have the “highest security standards both at the entrances and inside,” which will allow truckers to take proper rest and not have to worry about their vehicles, fuel or load being targeted.

Both facilities are to have “advanced access control systems and security camera surveillance” as well as lighting and perimeter fencing.

In terms of amenities for drivers, both lorry parks will sport restaurant areas, plus “areas for physical activities and rest”, recreational areas, free Wi-Fi, sanitary facilities, and laundry.

Moreover, the lorry parks will also have infrastructure for refrigerated trailers and trucks transporting both dangerous goods and livestock.

Finally, there will be an area for on-site customs procedures to take place.
