Today’s headline story: InPost CEO takes popshot at DHL over its continued Russian parcel exports

InPost CEO Rafał Brzoska has described DHL’s continuation of its parcel export business in Russia as “shocking”. The parcel locker tycoon made the comments via Twitter (in a now deleted tweet) after a Polish national TV correspondent had shared a promotional email from DHL reminding customers that it is still sending parcels from Russia abroad.

The stark comments from Brzoska were sparked after Tomasz Dawid Jędruchów, TVP’s Correspondent in Kyiv, tweeted an email from DHL regarding the company’s continuation of its parcel export business in Russia.

It is, however, important to stress that Jędruchów falsely claimed in his tweet that via the email, DHL had informed him that the company were “returning to Russia”.

A translation of the email shows that none of its contents have anything to do with DHL restoring domestic parcel deliveries in Russia.

The promotional email merely reminded DHL users that the company is still shipping parcels from 220 Russian cities to other countries.

This didn’t stop Brzoska from lashing out at competitor DHL though, accusing them of supporting Russia and paying very little corporate income tax compared to InPost.

DHL ended its domestic services in Russia in September 2022, citing “significant technical difficulties associated with the functioning of information systems and infrastructure”. Since then, JSC DHL International has continued to provide services for the delivery of documents and goods from Russia abroad.

Earlier this month, Robokassa and DHL Express also announced an online payments partnership that “will help Russian entrepreneurs enter the international market”.
